The Barton Historical Society 2010 Return to the Upcountry Reunion will be in Greenville, SC Sept. 30 to Oct. 3.  The Reunion Committee has secured a block of rooms at the Hyatt Regency for Thursday through Saturday nights at $109 per night.  We will hold our Saturday meeting in one of the hotel meeting rooms.

9:15AM:

• Meet at the front entrance of the Hyatt Regency Greenville, 220 N. Main Street, for the full day bus tour hosted by Barton descendant, Dean Campbell, known in those parts as the Squire of the Dark Corner.  We’ll visit Tyger Cemetery and other sites related to Bartons in the area, plus restorations at the 1790 Blythe-Goodwin-Hagood House, the Campbell covered bridge and more.   Wear comfortable shoes and plan to be gone until 4:30. 
• We’ll have Dutch treat lunch at the Junction Restaurant in Gowensville, a favorite of past reunion visitors.
• The tour will conclude at Perdue’s Orchard Farm (where David and Nancy Barrett Barton lived in a log home in the late 1700s)  with the dedication of a marker:  DAVID BARTON HOME SITE, 1785 – 1838.  
• Hospitality room is open

Saturday, Oct. 2, 10 AM: 

• Annual business meeting and program will be held in a meeting room at the hotel.  Anne McCuen, a Barton descendant and author of “Including a Pile of Rocks” about Greenville County properties, will be our featured speaker.   Terry will present DNA updates and report on his England trip.
• A noon break will allow you have lunch at one of the many choices of restaurants nearby. The hotel restaurant serves breakfast and lunch.
• We will reconvene, then allow time for visits to the library and Upcountry Museum     
• Saturday evening, dinner is planned at a nearby restaurant with live entertainment.  We’ll receive separate checks and everyone can order as they please. 

Sunday, Oct. 3: We’ll enjoy a farewell breakfast together in the hotel restaurant.  Those whose schedule permits may wish to attend services at Tyger Baptist Church.
